Mushrooms In March:
The Black Morel will start to appear from early March, and in some state, it might even appear earlier. It will be mainly found from mid-March until the end of March depending on the state.
The White Morel will begin to be found from late March in most states. This morel is the most widespread and sought after by mushroom enthusiasts in !
What Mushrooms In April?
The White Morel is THE MUSHROOM to look for in April. Indeed, the majority of morels are found in the USA during April. The first half of April will be the ideal time to search for them in the plains (between 0 and 600 m above sea level).
The Black Morel will continue to emerge in very localized areas, often quite challenging to anticipate unless you know specific spots in advance.
Some Boletes (Porcini mushrooms) will start to grow from April, in the warmer states of the United States. However, it’s not yet the best time to look for them.
What Mushrooms In May?
For Morels, the season will continue and extend to higher altitudes. So, from early May, consider going to mid and high mountain areas to find morels.
The Dryad’s Saddle will start to emerge from May and continue until August. It’s the right time to begin harvesting the first ones!
The Turkey Tail, just like the Dryad Saddle, will start to emerge from May.
Some Boletes (Porcini mushrooms) will emerge more widely in May as temperatures increase.
