Why Do Porcini Mushrooms Only Grow Under Certain Trees?
Porcini mushrooms associate with the roots of trees, they need them to be able to grow. Without a living tree, it is not possible to obtain porcini mushrooms.
For example, you will never or very rarely see a King Bolete growing on a tree trunk or on the stump of a dead tree. Indeed, the boletus will first associate with the roots of the tree thanks to the mycelium then this mycelium will give a Primordia (a baby mushroom) which will then give Porcini that you know.
However, the King Bolete will not associate with just any trees, like the majority of mushrooms, this one will associate with specific trees.

Porcini Mushroom And Hardwoord Trees
The Porcini mushroom grows under a large collection of hardwood trees. To increase your chances of finding them, we recommend that you look for King Boletes under the following trees: beech, oak, chestnut.
Of course, other trees can do the trick to find these mushrooms, but if you are a beginner, learn to recognize the trees we have mentioned and look for porcini mushrooms under these trees!
Porcini Mushroom And Conifers
The Porcini mushroom can also grows under a large collection of conifer trees. Of course, to increase your chances of finding them, we recommend that you look for King Boletes under the following conifer trees: spruce, fir and pine.
