How To Identify An Ash Tree?
Ash trees can reach large sizes and can range from a few hundreds of ft to over 130 ft.
Here are now some photos and descriptions to properly identify the ash tree:
Buds: they are quite large, conical in shape, of a beautiful velvety black.
Leaf: the leaves are opposite and have 7 to 15 elongated toothed leaflets. They are a beautiful dark green color.
Fruits: we also speak of “samara”. They are flattened, provided with a membranous wing. Their dissemination is done through the wind and their particular shape.
Bark: In the juvenile state, the bark is very smooth and of a grayish color. Later, as it grows, the bark gradually cracks and forms prominent streaks. It is common to see a yellowish colored lichen on this one.
