Is The Sulphur Tuft Poisonous?
Yes, the Sulfur Tuft is poisonous, why?
Because this fungus contains toxins in common with the Death Cap (deadly). These toxins are certainly less concentrated, but can still cause death.
Therefore, this mushroom is toxic to deadly and should not be eaten!
How Do You Identify The Tuft Sulphur?
- General: This small mushroom grows in clusters on stumps of beech, spruce or pine.
- Cap: its cap is yellow to brown in color, is domed and globose in its young age, then becomes flat thereafter.
- Gills: its gills are tightened, of a yellow to greenish color.
- Stem: the stem is thin and slender, it generally measures between 2 and 5 inch. It is often the same color as the cap and sometimes has remnants of cortin on the upper part of it.
- Smell: faint smell of sulphur.
